All my life, I have been haunted by the C word. C stands for cricket, before you give it more thought. C also stands for how crazy people can be and are about cricket.
Cricket may be the game in any Commonwealth country, but I think when it comes to India, it takes on mammoth proportions.
How cricket crazy are people around you? I am sure you have experienced it in one way or the other. Before the advent of television, the radio was a lifeline. People carried a pocket radio with them everywhere to listen to the commentary of a match. When you saw a group of strangers huddled together at the side of the road listening to a radio, you could be sure there was a cricket match on and people were going crazy over it.
This craziness! I couldn’t understand it in the era of test matches. I mean, how earth shattering is the outcome of one ball going to be when there are going to be unlimited balls and overs after it? I have hounded the cricket fanatics around me with this question. But test matches became one day matches which gave way to 20-20. OK. I agree, maybe a single ball is becoming important with the 20-20 format.
I have always been peeved with the amount of attention that is paid to cricket. So people slack off work, take time off, kids bunk school, and the whole topic just consumes this country of 1.25 billion people.
Well, people have found a new toy called a mobile phone which consumes even more of their time. This toy comes in models called Facebook and WhatsApp who are competing with each other for user engagement.
But something’s gotta give, right? how can a person handle so much overload – cricket, Internet, work, personal life, games etc.?
UC Browser comes to the rescue here. Soon as I saw that Yuvraj Singh was the brand ambassador for it, the C word came to my mind. I think this browser is going to provide some damage control for the cricket crazy people.
So no need to load up a site like cricinfo for checking scores. You can multitask and do all your daily routine tasks right in the same browser as you are getting updates about your favorite cricket match, that too, ball by ball updates.
What does the youth want. Something trendy, something young, something fast. And they want to stay on top of all the world cups and IPLs and county matches played on another continent. They want to be connected to cricket no matter where they are in the world. And all this can now be done with UC Browser which is just made for cricket crazy people.
Don’t be offended when I say ‘cricket crazy’. In our world, that is a good thing. And anyone who is not cricket crazy is the odd person out.
