Tired of explaining what parchment paper means to the local sundry shopkeeper? Lakeland is here to rescue you. Bruised your feet hunting for that bundt cake pan? Lakeland is here for you! Miss those days you could just drop a few ingredients in a crock pot, shop your heart out for hours and come back home to a hot meal? Well, Lakeland’s got your back there too!
Lakeland, a UK based company is the bespoke name when it comes to innovative kitchenware. And now Lakeland has a store in Pune in the Phoenix Market City mall. Lakeland and my new blogging buddy Roxanne at The Tiny Taster had a special do for bloggers this weekend where they showcased some of their revolutionary baking products, and I was invited. Traversing the intricate mess (or maze?) that hits you when you try to cross the Yerawada Bridge proved to be worth it the moment I entered the store.
Doilies! I screamed. OMG! They have doilies! You have no idea, dear reader, how I have dreamed of doilies. Just to line a tray or a plate, that little something that makes things so much more chic or civilized. And I was like a kid in a candy store the whole time. Lakeland stocks some Cuisinart appliances, and since I am a Big Cuisinart fan, I was charmed when I saw a fancy soup maker, slow cooker and ice cream maker. The range of cookware and bakeware is stunning. And so is the stock of kitchen utensils.
Chef Shahzad, Amul Master Chef Season 2’s Dessert King was on hand to show us how to decorate the cake pops and cupcakes that we were able to bake right on the spot.
The kitchen section has been one of my favorites in any departmental store, be it Macy’s, Sears or Penney’s. I have spent hours on weekends browsing through Bed, Bath and Beyond, or staring at the Williams Sonoma window. Cooking and baking aficionados can shop to their heart’s content, and stock their kitchen with almost everything they see on TV, and some things they don’t. Egg shell peeler, corkscrew, apple corer, tagine pots, egg poachers, silicone bake ware, microplane zesters, and pasta makers – you name it and they have it in the store.
Some of the appliances that were being demonstrated on Saturday were their electric cake pop maker, mini cupcake maker, and various icing or frosting tools. We know how cumbersome and expensive it is to have an actual oven. The cake pops and cupcake makers just have to be plugged in. There are no temperature settings to worry about. A green light glows to tell you your cake is ready, and viola, you can have your cake and eat it too!
Now let’s talk about price points. Some of the appliances like the Lakeland cupcake maker or waffle iron are quite reasonably priced. The bake ware like various baking tins, moulds etc. can seem to be expensive. But remember that these are the best quality and are going to last for years and years. Many items are such that they are not available anywhere else, so the price is moot in these cases.
Founded in the 1960s, quality and customer care matter for Lakeland. Lakeland is brought to us by Westside, a trusted name when it comes to retail. Lakeland products are the perfect gift for your loved ones this holiday season. So head over to Phoenix Market City and check out the Lakeland store. You will be dazzled, I promise!
A big Thank You to Westside stores, Lakeland and Roxanne Bambout for arranging this fun afternoon. Whether you have a cooking bone in your body or not, you will find something at Lakeland that catches your eye!
Oh wait, did I mention the candy floss machine, the chocolate fountain and the fondue pot (sigh)?
