Kent Cold Pressed Juicer is now on my coveted list. Move over, high powered blenders and stand mixers. I am now a whiz at fruit and vegetable juices with this efficient powerhouse of a juicer.
Last year, I did a juice cleanse and loved it. Since then, I have been on the lookout for a good quality juicer that will wring the heck out of anything I add to it.
Juicing is the secret to longevity. For years, I went to sleep watching Jack LaLanne say it again and again. And who could be a better spokesperson for it than a 95+ year old man dubbed the first fitness superhero?
Some of the features of the Kent Cold Pressed Juicer that impressed me right away were of course the cold pressed action. This prevents oxidation, preserving most of the nutrients, so the juice you drink provides more bang for your buck. Yield of a juicer is another important point, and Kent scored full points here too.
I tried juicing a variety of vegetables like spinach, carrots, apples, tomatoes and so on. Today’s recipe is Ginger Burst, a zesty and flavorful juice made from apples, carrots, ginger and lemon.
We all know what they say about apples and health. Carrots are loaded with beta carotene and Vitamin A, and lots of fiber. Lemons give us some Vitamin C along with that fresh lemony tang. Ginger is great for your tummy, and also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Start your day with this super tasty, nutrient loaded healthy juice, and you’ll be on cloud 9 all day. I was.
What I liked about Ginger Burst – fresh & healthy juice
Pretty orange color – the bright colors of the fruits and vegetables was retained for a long time
Fresh taste – taste is so much different from bottled juice – there are no additives here either
Texture – I used the larger mesh filter for this juice (see more below) and the juice was thick and pulpy, almost like a smoothie
Yield – I got almost 12 ounces or 350 ml juice from 3 apples and 2 small carrots
What I liked about the Kent Cold Pressed Juicer
Juice jar and pulp collection jar – these two separate jars are so convenient. The juice jar can hold a liter+ of juice – that is 4 cups – enough for a family of four at a given time. There is a handle built into it and the juice can be easily poured into a glass without any spillage.
Two filters – the Kent Cold Pressed Juicer comes with two different wire mesh filters. The mesh itself is metal or steel, making it durable. And the two filters with different sized pores give you a choice. I used both of these, and there is a marked difference in the output. I suggest the finer mesh if you do not want any pulp or fiber, and the slightly larger one if you like a thick juice.
I used the larger mesh for the Ginger Burst fruit and vegetable juice.
Reverse Action – the reverse action knob allows you to reverse the motor for a few seconds, thus releasing anything which may have got caught in the blades. I loved this feature!
Noise – there is almost no noise. The Kent Cold Pressed Juicer provides almost silent operation. So you could be juicing something early in the morning without waking up other sleepy heads in the house.
Looks or Aesthetics – this Kent Cold Pressed Juicer looks very fine on my kitchen platform. Yes Sir! The machine is very pretty to look at, all the parts are high quality and have some weight. It is obvious that a lot of care has gone into the design and manufacturing of this machine.
What could be better? The only thing I would have liked was a larger feed tube. I am actually not very well versed with what the norm is here, but you will need to cut your fruits and veggies into a certain size so that you can push them through the tube. But you know what they say, once you get something, you want more!
Ginger Burst – Fruit & Vegetable Juice with Kent Cold Pressed Juicer
Let’s put the Kent juicer to test with a simple recipe. Even if you don’t like carrots (why?), you will love this juice. This is actually a non-recipe.
Although I have used the veggies and fruits in a certain combination, feel free to vary it up. You can add more or less ginger, more lemon or more apples. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled as needed.
There are no additives – no added sugar, no salt, no preservatives or chemicals – just wholesome nutrients.
