Ever since I started writing about Lifestyle, I have been on a creative high. I love blogging about food, but now my world seems to have opened up to include such a big variety of things.
I recently won Harsha Bhogle’s Blogger Dream Team challenge. Cricket euphoria is running high with the World Cup and IPL. And now Kapil Dev is adding to the intrigue with talk of his new league. Have you noticed how ‘league’ is a buzzword now?
The only league I am obsessed about is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, a movie I still haven’t seen end to end. What could be this Ek Nayi League?
We see Kapil Dev talking about sports celebrities like Sania Mirza, Yuvi, Dhoni etc. But does this mean that this is something about sports people? If it is, I will be glad. Jonty Rhodes just had a show on Discovery and Beckam is also on some extreme sports show. It will be really great if our Indian sports heroes and heroines star in something – and hopefully they will be celebrities from sports other than cricket, or not just cricket.
Where there is sports, there is competition.
So there will definitely be more than one team. It is a League, after all.
An ‘A’ game is one where the sports person is 100% invested, one where they are thinking with their head. So angry crowds, media controversies, ill health, romantic tiffs, personal problems, money problems, team politics etc. etc. should all fade away. A battle of wits can only be won with intense concentration!
Since we are assuming that league is made up of sports people or fit people, there is action involved. So there could be extreme sports challenges or ‘roughing it’ involved sort of like in Survivor.
In sports, challenges are a must.
Challenges could be scenarios or tasks given where the players have to procure something like in a scavenger hunt, or choose an option out of multiple choice questions to unlock the next level.
So should this be a studio setting or outdoors?
Once again, considering that players are sports celebrities, an outdoorsy scenic location makes sense. I just hope it is not something like the Big Boss house!
Winner or Loser?
Maybe this is a kind of negative win game? One where you lose if you win. For example, you might have to ignore an injured team mate, or jeers from the crowd to win a challenge. Winner might be one who has a strong mind but not a lot of heart. After all, that is what Kapil Dev says right, when he tells us that anyone who plays with their heart will lose?
Anyone who has played Monopoly knows you cannot win by giving away property for free or accepting low rent.
If I ‘think’, I will say that using sports celebrity names in the videos is just a way to create buzz or draw attention. The League will actually be made up of ordinary people like you or me.
Maybe, just maybe, Kapil Dev will have a team of bloggers on his Ek Nayi League?
Mr. Dev, are you lizening?
