Blenders Pride Magical Nights 2017 swept Pune with a fashion extravaganza this weekend. This is the second time I was able to witness this signature fashion event and it is an experience I suggest everyone should have once.
Fashion, music and Bollywood came together in a dazzling show that struck an awesome note and found the audience applauding and clicking pictures all through the night.
Blenders Pride Magical Nights encourages people to discover their own style quotient. Fashions come and go. Style comes from within. Style is how you wear fashion and make it your own. Style is so much more than you think!
Ace designer Vikram Phadnis showcased his exclusive designs. The collection featured kurtas, shararas, lehengas and saris in pastel shades. Pale pink, blue, green and beige provided a backdrop for intricate zardosi, kundan and pearl embroidery. The silhouettes were ethnic yet urban, styles that most people can carry effortlessly in their regular lives. Of special note was the pairing of sari draped over slim pants. I had seen photos of this latest trend in a newspaper but seeing it manifested on the stage made it come alive for me. I’m not a sari person at all but this seems like a style I might want to try myself.
Showstopper Neha Dhupia capped off the mesmerizing show with a shimmering back and silver ensemble and her signature smile. Commenting on the occasion, Neha Dhupia said, “Blenders Pride Magical Nights is an iconic platform where style is redefined every year. The core theme of ‘Style: More than you think’ resonates with the evolution of my personal style which has been shaped by my trysts with theatre, fashion and Bollywood. I am thrilled to walk the ramp tonight and celebrate style.”
Daira provided an energetic and impassioned performance of classic rock numbers like Smoke on the Water. The guitar, drums and saxophone were all exceptional.
The Poona Club was the perfect venue for the event and provided warm and unrivaled hospitality. I am already looking forward to the next installment of Blenders Pride Magical Nights.
