Pizza!!! Who doesn’t love pizza? For many people, Italian food starts and ends with pizza. And sometimes, nothing else will hit the spot. Warm crispy bread, gooey stringy cheese, tangy tomato sauce, sweet pineapple, smoky mushrooms, hot jalapenos – I am hungry just thinking about it.
We had a big movie night planned last week. Actually, it is a regular feature where we pick a movie from our DVD collection, plan some great food and then enjoy the evening with friends and family. After the whole Cricket World Cup frenzy, we were looking forward to watching a movie. I had just cooked up a storm making burgers for the semi final. So I was in no mood to slave in the kitchen, especially with the rising heat. So we decided to order pizza.
Now we can order pizza online in Pune from almost any chain like Domino’s or Pizza Hut, but there is one catch to pizza delivery in Pune, actually, pizza delivery anywhere. Distance!! Yes, the time it takes to get the pizza to your door is very important. Pizza Hut takes almost an hour to get to our home, and by that time, it doesn’t stay fresh. So one of my favorite pizza joints is our local Jazz Pizza.
Jazz Pizza is an underdog but it can teach folks a thing or two. It is a small local store which uses real cheese. Cheese that actually melts, and tons of food toppings. Their potato wedges and fries are unbelievable. The pizza gets to us in 20-25 minutes and also, it is economical! A lot more decently prized than the so called ‘branded’ stuff.
Actually, when it comes to pizza, I really prefer to make it at home. From scratch, with a homemade crust. But let’s face it. That is not always feasible. And as I said before, there are times when I want to shut down my kitchen, and just order food from outside. Home delivery food comes to the rescue at such times, especially Pizza delivery.
So our local Jazz Pizza saved the day again. The Large Veggie Exotica and Punjabi Paneer were devoured as usual. The crispy potato wedges were demolished. And breakfast was taken care of with so many leftovers.
Nothing like cold pizza for a midnight snack, Nigella style!
