Foodies and Food Bloggers – Get the ASUS Zenfone 2

April 14, 2015 by Pragati Bidkar

What do foodies and food bloggers obsess about? Food photos! Yes, everyone wants that perfect photo that will get tons of RTs on Twitter or Likes on Facebook or Instagram. But not everyone roams around tugging a fancy expensive SLR. So how do you make those photos look good, especially when most restaurants are dimly lit?

Just getting good food photos is not enough. They need to be retouched if necessary, and shared across myriad social networks.

ZenFone 2, the latest from ASUS is packed with features a food blogger needs. I have already detailed my preference for this newer brand.

zenfone 2

Here are 5 reasons why I recommend this phone. I promise it is going to redefine your whole smartphone experience.

1. 13 MP Primary Camera and 5 MP Secondary Camera

The ZenFone 2’s 13 MP primary camera lets you take high resolution photos. The 5 MP secondary camera lets you take good quality selfies. This means your photos will look good enough, and it will be hard to distinguish them from a point and shoot. The f/2.0 aperture is highly priced for food photos.

Slightly larger than the immensely popular f/1.8 lens, it is still an improvement on my regular camera.

2. Low Light Performance

Taking good low light photos is essential in food photography. Yes, you can use the Flash, but no, you should not! So how do you still get bright photos in less light? ZenFone’s PixelMaster has some advanced image processing algorithms that increase light sensitivity and reduce noise giving you realistic colors and pictures even in low light.

Sound geek speak to you? Well, all you need to know is that you can take realistic photos in low light without using the Flash mode.

3. True Colors with Real Tone Flash

We just talked about why a Flash is not really preferred by serious photographers. A Flash generally over exposes your photo and washes out the colors. The ZenFone 2 comes with a dual LED Real Tone Flash which creates natural illumination even for indoor shots. This means you can capture a realistic shade of skin tone.

4. Manual Mode for Camera

Point and click is fine, but once you progress a bit in your photography, you prefer to configure all the settings yourself. It is surprising how many high priced phones do not offer this option.

If you want to go beyond choosing Landscape, Night etc. in your phone, then the ZenFone 2 will satisfy you. You can change the ISO, set the white balance, adjust exposure – all at the touch of a button. This video gives a quick overview of how the manual mode of the camera can be used.

5. Photo Editing

Although a good photo is one which does not have to be retouched, there are small changes you might want to make. The Beautification Mode lets you retouch faces for that perfect ‘Photoshopped’ or airbrushed look. So you can give someone a softer look, remove any skin blemishes to create a flawless look.

Adding special effects gives photos a different look, and a collage lets you show things step by step or bunch a lot of photos together. The ZenFone 2’s Photo Collage lets you be as creative as you want with just a few gestures.

These 5 features are only related to photography. I haven’t even talked about the powerful quad core processor, 4 GB RAM, 3000mAh battery and so on. No doubt, this phone is a valuable tool for food bloggers and foodies.

The ASUS Zenfone 2 is definitely a phone worth checking out, folks!
